Northern Nevada’s first fully high definition television station seeks a creative, energetic individual to join its team in a city located at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range just minutes from Lake Tahoe and a few hours drive to San Francisco. Reno is well known for various special events, Hot August Nights, Sparks Nugget Rib Cook off, Balloon and Air Races and major golf and bowling tournaments. Community pride is evident with our University of Nevada – Reno Wolfpack sports along with a number of professional sports franchises, Reno Aces baseball, Reno Bighorns basketball and Reno Barons football. The slopes of our Sierra Nevada Mountains provide skiing in the winter and rock climbing and hiking in the summer. Typical Duties:Supervise reporters, photographers, editors, and interns;
Understand and implement the news philosophy of the news director;
Field produce and edit news stories for reporters and newscast anchors;
Produce, write and post news items for broadcast and the station’s web site. A passion for the Internet is a must;
Make news judgments on coverage and presentation of the day's news events;
Make contacts and gather information about news issues/events;
Review and edit scripts written by other staff members;
Work with reporters, assignment editors, and photographers to make sure KRNV completely, accurately, and fairly covers news events;
Establish a good working relationship with the newscast director and the production crew to ensure a well-paced, clean newscast;
Assist in long range planning for the news department;
Perform other tasks related to the position as assigned, which may include
Requirements: Passion for news and creative thinker with great writing skills;
Minimum two year’s experience as a television news producer, associate producer, or writer;
Familiarity with ENG and SNG;
Ability to meet daily deadlines and work cooperatively with other staff members;
Experience editing news copy and video;
Booth producing skills a must;
Newsroom computer experience preferred (iNews for Windows); Good phone etiquette; and
Pass pre-employment drug test.
