Senior Buyer

Title: Senior Buyer
Reports to: Vice President of Supply Chain
Location: Reno, NV
Pay Status: Exempt
Pay Range: Open
Revision Date: December 26, 2012
Purpose of Position - To assist and support the Supply Chain department in achieving fuctional and company goals

Key Responsibilities
•Identifies and sources suppliers that meet HQO business requirements including cost, quality and delivery objectives
•Negotiates both long-term agreements and individual transactions
•Develops purchasing plans based upon MRP projections
•Issues, reschedules and cancels purchase orders based upon company's demands
•Assists with collecting and preparing data used for the evaluation and selection of
suppliers, carriers, and freight forwarders
•Maintains all supplier qualification and certification documents
•Coordinates shipping and scheduling requirements with various locations, freight
carriers, freight consolidators, and freight forwarders
•Verifies accuracy of invoices
•Collects and logs data related to supplier performance
•Prepares and transmits supplier performance scorecards on a periodic basis
•Ensures supplier completion of all corrective actions
•Ensures on-time deliveries of HQO purchase orders
•Transmits open purchase order reports to HQO suppliers on a regular basis
•Identify and resolve any discrepancies with open purchase orders
•Interact with staff at all levels, and with groups of wide social, cultural, and
educational diversity.
•Prepares and presents performance reports for management review
•All other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Supply Chain
•Position reports to Vice President of Supply Chain
•Internal Relationships: Significant interaction with Purchasing, Sales, Production,
Receiving, Shipping, Quality, Accounting and Management Staff.
•External Relationships: - Suppliers, carriers, freight forwarders
Measures of Performance
•Supplier and carrier on-time delivery
•Inventory value and turns
•Cost reduction
•Supplier quality

Background and Skills
•Minimum of 3 years experience with a history of success in an international purchasing environment
•Strong organizational, analytical and negotiation skills with ability to collect and prepare data
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Proven history of consistently meeting deadlines
•Ability to succinctly exchange information in a formal meeting environment.
•Works well as a self-motivating team player, who thrives in a fast paced, multi-
tasking and results-oriented environment
•Strong problem solving ability with personal and business maturity
•Operates with a sense of urgency and consistently demonstrates the ability to
prioritize workload
•PC literacy (Excel, Word)
•This position may qualify for some relocation assistance
