Reno-Sparks Indian Colony:
Position: Network Administrator
FLSA: Exempt
Status: Full-time – Monday-Friday; Times may vary
Supervisor: Tribal Administrator
Department: IT Department
Rate: Depending on Experience
Position Summary: Under general direction and supervision, the Network Administrator supports,
maintains, and evaluates computer networking and telecommunication systemsinstalls, configures, and
maintains both physical and virtual computer servers; assists in the installation and configuration
of workstations and software, maintains employee network, e-mail and user access accountsand
performs other related duties as assigned.

Duties:
Network administration I User support:
Provides support for the day-to-day operations of computer networks including hardware/software
installation and support; implements data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area
network \WAN) systems; assists in a variety of projects including network related wiring, LAN/WAN
hardware/software configuration, and system installation, backup, maintenance and problem solving;
assists in providing network and remote connectivity hardware/software support; maintains LAN user
documentation including hardware/software applications, support logs and other related information;
assists in installing, designing, configuring, and maintaining system hardware and software; analyzes
and troubleshoots network logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems; monitors usage
to ensure security of data and access privileges; installs, supports and maintains both physical and
virtual network servers and appliances; installs, maintains, and troubleshoots any Storage Area
Networks (SANs); establishes and maintains user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and
security; performs daily server backups; monitors, troubleshoots and resolves server or data network
problems; develops, maintains and implements network support and archiving procedures; keeps current
regarding new hardware and software products for system enhancements; assists and provides support
to other IT staff members as requested including performing scheduled network tasks, updating antivirus
definition files, monitoring network servers, and providing internet and inuanet user support,
and specialized training where and if applicable. Assists and provides support for Help-Desk tickets
and works with other IT support staff members under supervision and on mandated tasks as necessary.
Learns and becomes proficient in all hardware and software applications currently in use by the
RSIC.

E-mail/Internet/Systems Support:
Establishes and maintains user e-mail accounts; provides e-mail trammg and software support;
provides e-mail documentation and updates as needed; helps manage anti-spam and anti-virus servers
and clients; researches and troubleshoots e-mail problems by reviewing mail logs, records, and network
configurations; provides solutions to end-user identified problems.
Telecommunications

Support:
Installs cables (CAT5/5E, RJ-45, etc.) and cable runs, makes and uses patch cables as necessary;
researches, analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves telecommunications related problems; helps implement
telecommunications operational procedures; creates and/or modifies voicemail and call features; installs
telecommunications equipment and provides support for handsets, voicemail and new/emerging
telecommunications-related technology; inventories telecommunications equipment. Provides support for
mobile and cellular devices as needed.

Knowledge of:
Working knowledge of local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), Wi-Fi, Internet, MS Exchange e-mail
systems, telecommunications and data communications; standard Windows operating systems, software
packages, backup software and software utilities; proper records maintenance and storage for local and
distributed environments. Knowledge and experience with cyber-security, firewalls, SonicWall and Cisco
products including routers, switches, and network connection devices. Working knowledge of server and
desktop virtualization technologies. Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, HTML, PHP,
Web programming, hosting, liS, and social media formats a strong plus.

Skill and Ability to:
Maintain data networks and servers, at both the hardware and software level; provide technical support to
end-users; support workstation and client/server applications; administer day-to-day operation of
networks and servers; implement LAN/WAN maintenance and management procedures; communicate
effectively in both oral and written form; explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to clients and
non-IT staff; read, interpret and apply technical instructions; keep current by reading, interpreting, and
applying information on technological changes and updates; prepare clear and concise written
communications; research technical manuals and guides to respond to user questions; prioritize requests,
organize, schedule, and coordinate a variety of activities and projects; display the ability to learn new
software and hardware packages; adapt to changes in technology; work independently and as a team
member; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all those contacted during the
course of work at RSIC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and training equivalent to the possession of a bachelor's degree in
computer science, management information systems, or other related areas; such education should be at a
level which demonstrates the ability to perform duties comparable to those listed herein. Possession of a
MCSE/MCSA or equivalent certification is preferred.

Trainingand Experience:
A minimum of 5 years experience in general IT-related roles including direct experience with the
Windows Operating Systems (XP, Windows 7, Server 2003 and 2008, and Exchange server 2003-2010);
experience in all areas of local and wide area network management and administration
including system configuration, setup, troubleshooting, planning, implementation, and user support;
experience installing and supporting Microsoft server technologies; experience supporting
telecommunications equipment. Experience and familiarity with wireless and mobile technologies. A
minimum of 1 years experience with VOIP systems, with ShoreTel a strong plus. Experience with
VMware, vSphere, and virtualization systems is highly desired, as is experience with high-availability
design structure and disaster recovery techniques.

Other characteristics:
Possession of a valid Nevada driver's license; ability and willingness to travel within city/county limits
on work assignments.
