We recently ran a story about noise suppresion efforts around the Reno Tahoe International Airport.  The story mentioned seven million dollars in grant money that's been set aside for noise suppression in homes.
Judy karr wrote in asking how people find out if they qualify for a noise reduction grant ?

Judy I checked with Heidi Jared over at the airport about this.
The program is called the Airport Residential Sound Insulation Program.    Since it started the airport has spent more than $59 million dollars to insulate homes around the airport to minimize noise from planes taking off and landing.
Normally the airport will contact homeowners to let them know if they're eligible and how to take part.
There are a few eligibility guidelines.  Your home must have been built before 1998.
It must be a residence and not a business.  And the sound levels inside the home must be higher than 45 decibels with the windows closed.
If you have questions, give the airport a call but again, typically they will contact you if you are eligible.
