Question:
Richard Block wants to know if there are any plans to develop the old Park Lane Mall site in Reno ?

Answer:
Well, Richard, after sitting empty since 2007 and being taken over by weeds since then, there are finally some plans shaping up for the old Park Lane Mall.
I spoke with Greg Geertsen with Merlone Geier Partners. He says they are in the process of signing some tenants and getting approval from the city for what he calls phase one of a new development project which will include small shops and restaurant space.
Park Lane closed a few years back after 40 years in operation. It is in a key part of town at the corner of Plumb Lane and South Virginia Street. Geertsen says things are going well with the city approval process and we should see some new development shaping up soon.

Grew up here. As children, we had a time when we were supposed to meet at the "Big Clock". Back then, it was a "day" of Christmas shopping. Parents loved Sears, being kids it was so uncool. Woolworth's had a great lunch counter. And Weinstock's was the best. Moved back in 2008 and it was all just gone. Very sad. That was when Fast Times at Ridgemont High came out and all of us at Sparks High wanted to have a mall like that. Meadowood Mall wasn't as good as Park Lane Mall. Bigger, but not as good.

the 'underground' area of the Sears tire store was way cool, too. Hey Joe, whattabout the old "Super" KMart? Northtowne WalMart? Kings Inn? not exactly 'fast turnaround' on these "developments", eh? Meanwhile, Harrah's gets a tax break. give Me one...

I too owned a store in Park Lane Mall before it closed. It was a great site, even towards the end. Was sad to see it go, but we still have our store.

I'd love to hear more updates as they become available. I owned a store in Park Lane long before it closed and it makes me feel bad every time I drive by the vacant lot.
