From the Ask Joe File we have a follow-up tonight on a what one of our viewers felt was a possible scam to get peoples' old cell phones.
Arland Thompson, a local veteran, contacted us after he sent his phone in to a company called Totem, or Cellular Distribution Strategies. Nearly two months later he still had not received the 61 dollars the company had promised him.
I looked into it and found the Better Business Bureau in San Diego has issued a consumer warning about the company which has 285 complaints filed against it in the past year.
The good news is the day after our story aired this week, Arland received a check in the mail for $ 61.57...From Cellular Distribution Strategies. Thompson says it was better late than never.
I'm glad it worked out for Arlen but its a good reminder to always check out a business beforehand, and the Better Business Bureau is a good place to start.
