Arland Thompson says he sent his old cell phone into a company called Totem and was told he would receive $61.00 for his old phone. That was more than a month ago. He wants to know if this company is legitimate or is it a scam ?
I'm looking into this but so far it definitely raises some questions. The company, Totem, is located in San Diego. I have tried calling and emailing but i have yet to get a response.
I also checked with the San Diego Better Business Bureau website and found the company, which also goes by the name "Cellular Distribution Strategies" not only has an "F" rating with the B-B-B but the agency has also issued a consumer warning. There are 285 complaints that have been filed against this company in the past year alone.
So it sounds like a lot of people are in a similar situation here. Its always good to check with the Better Business Bureau beforehand to find out if there are any red flags with a company you plan to do business with. Especially if you're sending them money or something of value.
