Question:
From the Ask Joe file one of our viewers has a question about some changes taking place near Virginia Lake.
Christine wrote in asking what is going on with the rental housing at Virginia Lake?
She says she was walking by recently and noticed the housing on the East side of the lake has been fenced off and appears to be vacated.

Answer:
I checked with Bill Gall in the City of Reno's Community Development Department.
He says the townhouse units known as the Virginia Lake Apartments on East shore Drive near Lymberry have been fenced off and will be demolished in the future.
All of this is being done to make way for a new condo/townhouse subdivision.   The new development will include 336 units and will be called "Edgewater at Virginia Lake".
Silver Wing Development is heading up  this project and they told me today demolition will begin in three weeks and construction should get started in august.
Silver Wing says they believe this is the biggest re-development project in Northern Nevada since the recession, so some good news on that front and we'll look for progress very soon.
