RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - M. Nilsson wrote in saying he remembers hearing that Five Guys hamburger chain was going to open a restaurant in Reno.  He wants to know if that's still going to happen?

The company did make an announcement a few months ago that they were planning to open in Reno, in the old Brew House building at the corner of Kietzke and South McCarran.

I called the company's headquarters in Virginia but I wasn't able to reach anybody.  However, the building department at Reno City Hall told me they do not have a business license application on file for Five Guys.   The city has issued a permit for improvements to the old Brew House building so that may be the first step.   Michele Anderson with the City of Reno says it generally takes two to three months to get a business license approved if it includes a liquor permit.

So it sounds like its going to be several months at least if Five Guys is still planning to come here.  I'll follow up with more when I hear back from the company.

The manager at the Carson store told me it would be a few months before they opened in Reno. She did confirm that the location would be the old Brew House on Kietzke and McCarran.
