Brady Cartwright wrote in asking about the disc golf course off of Virigina and Mccarran. He says it was flooded about a month or so ago creating a lot of standing water and making part of the course unplayable. He wants to know why the course was overwatered ?
I checked with Al Rogers, the acting director for the Parks and Recreation Department. He says a valve in the ditch irrigation system got clogged and because it was during the irrigation season they were not able to fix it right away.
So the upper pasture up at Rancho San Rafael ended up getting some excess water and the county notified the Reno Disc Golf Association so they could let their members know of the problem.
The county says the ditch has been shut down and they'll work on fixing that broken valve over the winter so that the problem is fixed and the course is ready for play when things warm up in the spring.
