From the Ask Joe file a follow - up and a chance to clarify a question I addressed last week about the possibilty of free bus rides on Election Day to boost voter turn-out .
The viewer, Trish wrote in asking whether RTC could use its buses to pick up people at senior centers to give them free rides to the polls ?
I had talked with Michael Moreno over at RTC but there might have a miscommunication on the phrasing of the question. I told Michael I would follow up to make sure we got it cleared up.
He told me RTC does not have extra buses that could be used to visit senior centers and care homes on election day. He says that would impact their regular service and operations.
Moreno went on to say that RTC is considering offering a free ride day to everyone on Election Day providing the public another transportation option to get to the polls. He says if they're able to do this,
The information will be announced as we get closer to election day.
Thanks to our viewer Trish who asked the question and thanks to Michael Moreno over at RTC for giving us the chance to clarify the answers. Accuracy is always a top priority here at News 4.
