Jim wrote in complaining that he just got a $200 ticket for failing to stop before turning on to Kietzke Lane.
He wants to know why there isn't a grace period since there are so many new signs to get used to in that area ?
I checked with the Nevada Highway Patrol about this since they're the ones who issued the ticket in this case.
Trooper Barb Stapleton says simply there are no grace periods on existing laws pertaining to traffic signals.
She says it is the duty of the driver to be aware of his or her surroundings especially when there is a new interchange and they must obey all traffic laws.
Stapleton says as far as the fine goes that is something they do not have control over. Penalties for trafic tickets are set by the courts in each jurisdiction.
