Stacy wrote in saying there are a lot of rumors going around about the bid that was awarded for the Genoa enhancement project.  She wants to know how much it's costing and who's doing the work ?

Stacy I checked with Lisa Granahan with Douglas County.
This project in Genoa is one of 12 economic vitality projects being spearheaded by the Douglas County Redevelopment Department.
  Here's what i found out:
The bill for this project is  $1.6 million.  A and K Earth Movers is doing the work which involves burying some power lines, putting in new walkways, adding signs and street lights and improved parking.
Basically Douglas County officials are working to make Genoa a little more visitor friendly.
The contractor, A & K,  does have an office in Fallon and they were chosen because they were the low bidder on the project. There's really no wiggle room for the county on that.
The contract was approved at a public meeting on February 7th and the work is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.
If you want to find out more there's a meeting planned for Tuesday March 26th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden to show off all 12 projects the Douglas County Redevelopment office  is tackling .
