From the Ask Joe file one of our viewers has a question about someone we see a lot of on the news and in our Ask Joe segment.
Our viewer wrote in asking how long Scott Magruder has worked at the Nevada Department of Transporation? The viewer says it seems like he's been there forever !
That's a great question and the answer is 28 years.
And guess what: Friday January 31st will be his last day on the job.
No, he wasn't fired after a News 4 investigation or anything like that. Magruder has decided to retire and take it easy for the next six months before deciding on his next challenge. He does have two sons and plans to spend time with them.
I do want to say Scott has been one of the best public information officers to work with. He is always available, always responsive, and he is never one to shy away from tough questions. And when you consider some of the controversial highway projects over the years like the Galena Creek Bridge and the Meadowood Interchange, Magruder has had to field plenty of tough questions.
So good luck to Scott, and thanks for the help over the years in getting important information out to the public about our transportation system.
