From the Ask Joe File we're following up tonight on a traffic issue that arose with the opening of the new Meadowood Mall Interchange.
Jim had written in because he was ticketed the first day the interchange opened for making a right turn on a red light. He was upset about getting ticketed the first day when drivers were still gtting used to all the new signs. And he wants to know what the law is ?
Well, its very interesting. Things have changed, according to Scott Magruder at NDOT they received so many complaints that they have taken down some of the signs. That means it is now okay to make a right turn on a red light after you stop depending on which corner you're at. The main one they received complaints about is the corner where you turn west toward Kietzke getting off the southbound exit, say if you're going to P-F Chang's or one of the businesses in there.
That is now legal. Unfortunately a lot of people were ticketed and its about a 200 dollar ticket. NDOT says they can't do anything about that but they want people to know they do listen to public outcry, and in this case they feel they responded witht the appropriate changes.
