From the Ask Joe file a follow up to a recent question about a new development project in town.
Kristina Smith wrote in a little while back as did several other viewers asking what is going in to the old Kmart building in northwest Reno ?
Just today we did get a few more details about the development going on there including the name: The old Kmart building will soon be home to the Great Western Marketplace set to open in the spring of this year. It's going to feature a mixture of 300 artisans, craft and food merchants all under one roof.
Trudy Naumann, who is spearheading the project says the idea is to create a retail incubator where new businesses can get off the ground and existing businesses can continue to expand.
And it will hopefully make for a great shopping experience for customers.
So it sounds like an exciting project and it will be nice to see some life in that building that's been sitting empty for a while now up off Summit Ridge Drive. Again, look for things to open up this spring.
