One of the security officers down at the courthouse asked why, since court hearings start at 7:30 in the morning, the parking meters don't go into service until 9:00 am ?
I spoke with Cane Dutt, he's the boss over at Curb Systems which developed the parking kiosk system. He told me the signs on the kiosks list their operating hours at 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m, but actually you can start using them as early as 7:30 in the morning.
9:00 until 6:00 is when the city enforces parking rules but again if you arrive earlier than that you can put money in the kiosk to pay for your parking spot.
Dutt also says his company is now working closely with councilman Pierre Hascheff to address a number of issues, including this one that have been raised about the new parking kiosks.
