Linda called up the other day and asked how much money will be set aside for seniors citizens as part of WC -2 ?
WC-2 is an advisory question only. The question is, should more money be set aside for essential public services such as senior services, public safety and infrastructure ?
I checked with the folks over at Senior Spectrum Magazine. They tell me there is no set amount set aside for seniors since this is an advisory question only. But they say there is money that's already been raised through an increase in the government services tax and it's in the millions.
That's a tax you pay when you register your car. If this advisory measure passes, then senior groups would lobby county commissioners for their share of the pie. So nothing set in stone yet. But the measure would help the county gauge how the public wants this money spent.
