Sue Wainscott wrote in asking why is it that NBC and others sponsor the Reader Leaders program and yet it is never covered on the news ?  Sue says her grandson was selected as a reader leader at Cold Springs Elementary and she never saw any coverage of it.

Reader Leaders is a regular segment here on News 4.  It airs during our 6:00 p.m. newscast, usually during the sports segment, on the fourth Thursday of every month.
The way it works is schools set their own reading goals and the schools that meet or exceed their goals are nominated to receive some special  recognition including a visit from Bryan or Julia and even the Wolfpack cheerleaders.
The program is simply a way for us to give students a little pat on the back for a job well done and its turned out to be very popular.
