Nick Fischer wrote in asking what the status is of the unfinished parking garage at the Sparks Marina ?
I checked with Adam Mayberry over at Sparks City Hall. He says the vacant garage has unfortunately become an eyesore and symbol of the recession.
The garage was finished in 2008 and the plan was to build condos around it but the developer ran out of money. The building was then taken over by the bank. And has since become the target of grafitti artists and vandals.
The good news is that Mayberry says the building has recently been purchased by a new owner and the city is looking forward to working with them once they're ready to continue development or put the garage to use. No word on when that will but it sounds like it is a step in the right direction so keep an eye out for some positive changes in that area soon
