Annette Campos wrote in asking what is being done about the awful sewer smell around the Sparks Marina ? She says she notices it outside Scheels and Target as well.
Annette, as you point out, this has been going on for a while. I checked back with Adam Mayberry today, the spokesman for the city of Sparks. He says this is an issue the developer, Red Development, has promised to fix. There is no set timeline and the city can't force them to fix it since the issue is on private property. But Mayberry says he's been told when they tackle the next phase of the development out at the Legends Shopping Mall, the developer will address the issue at that time by going in and expanding the sewer line capacity so it doesn't continue to back up and create that odor. Mayberry says it doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it is definitely unpleasant. Unfortunately, for now, the only solution is to plug your nose and bear with the problem when it crops up.
