Ashley cullins, one of my colleagues here at news 4 says she noticed a few of the old style parking meters still in place along Sierra Street. Since the city recently switched over to a new system using kiosks instead of parking meters, she's wondering why some of the old meters are still in place ?
Some of the old parking meters are still along Sierra Street and also over on Center Street.
I checked with the City of Reno about this and they say they are still in the transition phase and they simply haven't gotten around to changing out all of the old meters. The city is working with curb systems , the company which operates the new kiosk system to get the final meters replaced and figure out whether more kiosks are needed.
As a side note...The city says it is still working with Curb Systems to iron out problems with the new kiosk system. It sounds like they are making progress but the issue is slated to come before the council again anytime soon.
