Larry Dailey wrote in asking why the deputy superintendent, who was a finalist for the superintendent's job is no longer with the school district ?

The answer:  Jane Woodburn left her job after two and a half years with the school district.  Woodburn was hired by former superintendent Heath Morrison when he took the job.  She was one of the finalists for the superintendent position after Morrison left but she lost out to Pedro Martinez.
I talked with Jane this week and she says typically when a new superintendent is hired they bring in their own deputies to work under them.  So she says it was a mutual decision to step down when Martinez got the job.
Woodburn says she's finishing up her Ph.D but she says she hasn't figured out what she's going to do next.  She did say she feels the school district is moving in a very positive direction these days.
