The old Verdi Inn on Old Highway 40 was a dinner house which according to the Verdi History Center built in 1926. It was damaged by fire in the mid 80's and has never re-opened.
As far as the work that's been going on recently , I checked with Don Jeppson in Washoe County's Community Development Depatment and he says they've had some weather damage and parts of the building known as gabeling were coming off in the wind. The owners were ordered to get a permit and make those repairs.
So no plans to re-open the building at this point. But there is at least some work to keep it intact as a landmark in Verdi.
