RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.cvom) - NV Energy says natural gas customers in the Reno-Sparks area set an all-time peak for natural gas consumption.

Customers consumed 160,074 dekatherms of gas for the 24-hour period beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday and ending on Monday at 7 a.m. One dekatherm is 1,000 cubic feet of natural gas.

The old record was set four years ago during a 24-hour period ending on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009.

NV Energy says it has not had any difficulties serving the increased customer demand.

NV Energy advises customers to keep their furnace thermostats set at 58 degrees at night or when away from home and at 68 degrees while at home.

NV Energy serves approximately 153,000 natural gas customers in Reno-Sparks and outlying areas.
