A student at Hunsberger Elementary has turned a class project into something that brings warmth and comfort to those who need it most and this month she's News Four's Class Act award winner.
At the end of the school year in June we surprised 6th grade student AnnaMarie Otor during class.
AnnaMarie learned how to crochet as an class assignment when she was ten but when that was done... she started a group called Connecting Youth to Crochet for Charity.
She teaches the students and a few adults who want to join how to crochet and they work together to make beautifully colored blankets to donate to groups like the Ronald McDonald House, Hosanna Home and the Veterans Guest House. Every month she asks members of the group to crochet a 12X12inch square. They put the squares together and then personally deliver the hand made blankets. Otor says it makes her feel good when the recipients are so happy to receive them.
Congratulations to AnnaMarie Otor , News 4's Class Award Winner for the month of July!
