RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) - A sophomore at Reed high school is providing comfort to the ones who need it most and this month he is News Four's Class Act award winner.
News Fours surprised 15 year old Chris Cummings in Spanish class.
As part of his Eagle Scout project Chris organized the making of 101 blankets that were donated to cancer patients at Renown Regional Medical Center.
He raised 1250 dollars in donations for the materials and recruited 35 volunteers to help him put them together.
Chris says his little brother received excellent care at Renown when he was battling a health issue and he wanted to give back.
The idea for his project came to him while on the way to the fabric store with his mom who was making a blanket for her friend with cancer.
Chris decided on 101 blankets to represent the 101 years Boy Scouts have been an organized group.
Congratulations to Chris Cummings, News Four's Class Act Award Winner.
