Reno (NV.)

For 25 years years she's been working hard to educate little ones to the best of her ability and before retiring this summer News Four wanted to make sure she knew how much our community values her.

Recently News Four surprised 5th grade teacher Stacey Melcher during a school assembly at Sarah Winnemucca Elementary with our Excellence in Education award.

Parents say she is a loving, caring teacher who knows just how to keep the kids captivated and wanting to learn.

From black boards to white boards Mrs. Melcher says she's enjoyed seeing the evolution of education during her years in the classroom. Next year she plans to continue helping out at Sarah Winnemucca with testing and spend time traveling with her husband.
She credits her aunt for inspiring her to become a teacher.. and obviously a great one!
Congratulations to Stacey Melcher, News Four's Excellence in Education Award Winner!

I'm sorry I missed this when it first came out. I was in Mrs.Melcher's very first classroom at Smithridge Elementary, in 1990. Congrats to you and thank you for nurturing my learning 25 years later. Melissa Laws
