A teacher from Double Diamond Elementary School is working hard to ensure her students' success and she has been named News 4's Excellence in Education Award Winner for the month of April.
Recently, evening anchor Shelby Sheehan surprised Lynn Davis with the award during her fifth grade class.
Davis is in her 9th year teaching and is said to not only be committed to her students test scores and learning, but motivating them to be better people all around.
She teaches them about the importance of things like recycling, community involvement and physical fitness.
Davis is known for her creative style of teaching, keeping the kids captivated.
Davis says, "Leaning has to be exciting and hands on. We do a lot of hands on projects, we more around the room, this is not a stagnant sit at your desk and read a text book."
