One teacher at Mendive Middle school is keeping high achieving
students on their toes and this month she is News Four’s Excellence in
Education Award Winner!
Recently we surprised math teacher Holly Young with the
award during an impromptu assembly.
Young has been teaching for 17 years and over the past two
has been heading up a district wide math curriculum for high achieving
students.
Her principal says she is one of the most dedicated, focused
and enthusiastic teachers always going above and beyond to keep the kids
learning.
She teaches 6 different math classes a day but her career
wasn't always in the classroom. She was a mathematician when she decided she
wanted to go back to school to get her teaching credential and make a
difference for young people. And she has not looked back!
