A 6th grade teacher at Hunsberger elementary is said to teach to the soul...not to the test...and she is News Four's Excellence in Education award winner for the month of January.
Last week evening anchor Shelby Sheehan surprised Amanda Cox with the award during an assembly.

Cox has been teaching for 17 years focusing first on special education and then switching over to 6th grade.
She sets high expectations for her students at the same time keeping those expectations high for herself...to keep subjects interesting.

The principal says her teaching philosphy is student centered and respectful to all...keeping in mind that 6th graders like to have fun!   Congratulations to Amanda Cox...our Excellence in Education Award Winner!
