A teacher at McQueen High School is setting the bar high when it comes to connecting with students and this month he is News Four's Excellence in Education Award Winner!
Evening Anchor Shelby Sheehan surprised social studies teacher Farrell Vaughn recently during his American
Government class.
Vaughn has been teaching in Washoe County for 11 years, always working to find new ways to keep his students captivated. He says discussions about current issues can get very heated, but he wants everyone to have a voice and hopes that those lively debates just help to solidify the lessons his students are learning about in class.
Vaughn made a career switch to teaching after working in the casino industry for years. He says he was looking for a more rewarding job and he has found that in teaching.
Also he is following in his mother's footsteps, a long time teacher.
Congratulations to Farrell Vaughn, News Four's Excellence in Education Award Winner.
