A teacher at Lois Allen Elementary school is not only a strong educator, but also one with a big heart and willing to do just about anything for her students. She has been selected to be News Four's Class Act Award Winner.
Evening anchor Shelby Sheehan recently surprised 2nd grade teacher Karen Hawkins during a school assembly at Lois Allen. A parent wrote to News Four telling us the great lengths that Hawkins goes to for strudents facing any type of adversity. In their case it was a medical illnesss and diagnosis. The student wasn't in her class but she helped to provide piece of mind for the boy and his parents.
Also, Hawkins can often be seen at her students special events to show her support.
