We’ve had some chilly temperatures so far this winter but thanks to the efforts of one local woman many children in Northern Nevada will have an easier time staying warm.
Karin Derocco spends much of her free time working with her hands. She makes beautiful quilts and also hand knits warm winter caps in all different colors. She recently decided to donate more than a hundred caps to the Boys and Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows. She’s also made other donations to different community organizations over the years. Karin says the response she gets makes it all worthwhile.
“They are grateful and it gives me an overall great feeling that it is my hands that made it possible,” Karin told News 4.
Karin is not involved in any official organization but instead makes these donations on her own. For all her hard work and dedication to helping others, News 4 is proud to honor Karin Derocco with the Jefferson Award for the month of January.
