A local organization is dedicated to helping others and also getting children involved in that charitable effort.
Dee Dee Kersch and her husband Casey started Project 33 --- with the original goal of doing 33 charitable projects, like clothing drives every year.
They store their donations at this facility in Stead and then hand out all the clothes they collect several times a year.
But the Kersch's also focus on getting their children involved in their community work as you can see in these photos and they say that's where the real gratification comes for them.
Dee Dee Kirsch said "It's an amazing feeling, especially when our children see something that was theirs, that they have handed out, being worn by another child. That's what's really amazing is to see the kids and their faces light up."
Congratulations once again to Dee Dee Kersch and Project 33, our Jefferson Award winners for the month of July.
We need nominations---so if you know of someone who deserves to be honored for their community service...drop us a line here at the station, 1790 Vassar Street in Reno, 89502. Maybe the person you nominate will be featured here on News 4.
