HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — A former New York City television reporter has been sentenced to serve 26 years in prison, after he was found guilty on several charges -- including the sexual assault of a four-year-old girl at his home in New Jersey.

A judge in state Superior Court in Hackensack on Friday handed down the sentence to former Fox 5 reporter Charles Leaf. An emotional Leaf maintained his innocence as he spoke for more than 20 minutes during the hearing.

Leaf was arrested in 2010, and a jury found him guilty in February on multiple counts -- including sex assault, child endangerment and possession of child pornography.

On the witness stand, the now eight-year-old girl he was accused of molesting withdrew her accusations.

Leaf's father-in-law testified that he, not Leaf, had viewed porn on Leaf's computer.
