SAFFORD, Ariz. (AP) — A moderate earthquake has struck in Arizona near the New Mexico line and was widely felt across the area.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 5.2 quake struck at 9:59 p.m. PDT Saturday and was centered in southeastern Arizona, about 35 miles east of Safford.
USGS geophysicist Jana Pursley says the temblor touched off several much smaller aftershocks.
She says callers from as far away as 150 miles away reported feeling the quake.
