PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — The state fire marshal's office says an employee at a Plymouth elementary school has died and a hazardous materials response team is at the scene investigating.

Authorities also said another school employee and nine public safety employees were taken to area hospitals after Monday's incident for treatment of minor eye and throat irritation.

The identity of the worker who was confirmed dead was not immediately released.

The Department of Fire Services said in a statement that investigators were trying to determine if the death was connected to work being done at the school, as levels of chemicals in the building were found to very low.

No other details were immediately released.
