Washington D.C. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Congressman Mark Amodei answered viewer questions about the government shutdown today, October 2, 2013.
Congressman Amodei says, "Nobody is happy about the shutdown, but the people that are affected by the health care law are a much larger number than 800,000 (federal government employees), there's 675,000 just in my district in Nevada that will be affected by the health care law."
Amodei also says he is reaching out to democrats to try and work some things out and that lawmakers should not be playing the blame game, "We ought to be elbowing about who gets credit for what the fix is instead of who gets the blame for where we are are now."
Meanwhile Congressman Steven Horsford released this statement:
"Pure and simple: Republicans blocked a motion by House Democrats to fully fund the government. I'd recommend asking every member of the GOP who voted against this motion why they won't allow a vote on a bill that would reopen the entire government.I would have voted for a clean continuing resolution."
