News 4 has teamed up with the University of Nevada and the Nevada Mining Association to recognize the top reading classes in our area...
And this month's winner comes from Huffaker Elementary School in Reno.
It's Mrs. Bean and Mr. Dicianno's first grade class of super readers.
The teachers and the kids set a goal of reading 500 books in the month of December but they didn't read 500 books, they read 800 books, shattering their goal. The teachers say the kids have really bought into the program.
Mr. Dicianno said “they're loving it...”
For being named reader leaders, the kids all received a News 4 Reader Leaders t-shirt and the class will be guests of honor at an upcoming Wolf Pack basketball game.
