CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — State workers will pay a little more toward their own retirement, reducing the amount of their take-home pay.
The Nevada Appeal reports the head of the Public Employee Retirement System told lawmakers Thursday that the retirement contribution rate has to increase by 2 percent for the coming biennium. The cost will be split between employees and the state.
PERS provides retirement services for all governmental entities in Nevada.
The plan currently has more than 98,000 active members and about 50,000 retirees.
