COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- One day after announcing the Academic All-Mountain West teams, the conference released its record-setting 2013-14 MW Scholar-Athletes with 48 Nevada student-athletes receiving the honor, according to a press release from the University.

A league-record 651 student-athletes were honored, including 50 individuals who have achieved a 4.00 or higher cumulative grade point average over two or more terms, and 85 student-athletes who were recognized in multiple sports. The 651 honorees surpass the previous conference high of 632 in 2012-13.

To qualify as a scholar-athlete, a student-athlete must have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the member institution, have compiled a cumulative grade-point average, at the member institution, of 3.5 or higher, and competed in at least one varsity contest in a Mountain West-sponsored sport during the 2013-14 academic year.

The 48 Wolf Pack scholar-athletes were led by the swimming & diving team, who placed nine on the list. Women’s basketball, women’s golf, track & field and cross country/track & field each received five honorees. The Nevada football, soccer and volleyball teams each had four representatives, while men’s golf and men’s tennis had two selections and baseball, softball and cross country each had one.
