SACRAMENTO, Calif. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Reno Aces defeated the Sacramento RiverCats 2-1 in ten innings on Monday. It was the regular season finale for both teams.

Nick Ahmed singled home Mike Freeman with two outs in the top of the tenth inning to score the winning run. Jake Barrett earned his 16th save for the Aces, who finish the season 81-63.

The win means that the Aces clinched a playoff spot by winning the Pacific Coast League's Northern Division. They will face the Las Vegas 51's in a best-of-five series, starting on Wednesday night at Cashman Field in Las Vegas. The series will shift to Aces Ballpark for Game 3 on Friday, and "if necessary" Games 4 and 5 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The Aces finished the season with a five-game series at Raley Field in Sacramento. They entered the weekend trailing by one game, and with Sacramento holding the tiebreaker, Reno needed to win four games. They won Thursday and Friday, then lost Saturday. In what amounted to an elimination game on Sunday, they defeated the RiverCats 7-3.
