Reno, NV -- Both dunks by University of Nevada senior point guard Deonte Burton have advanced to the quarterfinals of the fifth annual College Dunk of the Year Tournament, hosted  by The Hoops Manifesto.  The dunks occurred at UNLV and at Boise State.  The dunk at BSU was number one on ESPN’s top 10 Plays of the Day and the dunk at UNLV was second.

Burton is the only player to have two dunks in the tournament.  In round one his dunk at BSU garnered 53 percent of the votes to defeat Talladega College’s Brandon Peters.  The UNLV dunk earned 54 percent of the votes cast to knock off Raphiael Putney of UMASS.

In the quarterfinals the BSU dunk is matched against Javonte Douglas from the College of Central Florida.  Burton’s dunk at UNLV squaring off against Michael Qualls of Arkansas.

The tournament started with 16 of the best dunks from this past season in a March Madness style tournament.  Each round will be voted on for a week until the champion dunk has been determined.  To vote for Burton follow this link: http://hoopsmanifesto.com/articles/basketball/201314-college-dunk-of-the-year-tournament-quarterfinals.html.

Former Nevada forward and teammate of Burton, Olek Czyz won the title in 2011-12.
