Reno, NV (MyNews4.com) – Former Wolf Pack star Chris Gimenez is switching teams, but is staying in the American League West.  Gimenez has been claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers from the Oakland Athletics on Friday, according to Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com.  Lefty pitcher, Michael Kirkman has been designated for assignment to create roster space.

During this year's Spring Training with the A’s, Gimenez batted .242 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI in 25 games played.  He has a career MLB batting average of .199 with 6 HR.

The 31-year old catcher was acquired by the A’s on waivers in December of 2013.

Gimenez has spent time with the Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners and the Tampa Bay Rays.
