Reno, NV (MyNews4.com) -- Lucas Harrell did it all for the Aces in a 13-0 romp of the Grizzlies Tuesday night at Aces Ballpark. The right-hander threw seven shutout innings and drove in three runs as Reno moved to a season-best eight games over .500 at 30-22.
Mike Jacobs wasted little time getting the Aces a lead. He led off the second inning with a solo homer to center, his tenth blast of the year. They tacked on three more runs in the frame, collecting RBI hits from Bobby Wilson and Nick Ahmed. A bases-loaded walk issued to Nick Evans made it 4-0 after two.
Aside from keeping Fresno off the scoreboard, Harrell did damage at the plate. He ripped a two-out, two-run double to the center field wall in the third inning. He later added an RBI single in the fifth to give the Aces a 7-0 lead. He’s the first Aces pitcher to collect an RBI on a base hit this year.
He got a strikeout and an inning-ending double play in the sixth, then ended his night with back-to-back strikeouts in the seventh. He struck out seven and limited Fresno to just three hits.
By that time, Reno had extended its lead to 9-0. Danny Dorn entered the game as a defensive replacement in the seventh, and hit a solo homer to lead-off the eighth, his first at bat at Aces Ballpark.
When it was all said and done the Aces collected 19 hits, the second-highest mark of the season. Ahmed and Tony Campana each had three knocks, while DiDi Gregorius, Andy Marte, Wilson and Jacobs had two apiece.
The 13-0 win, coupled with the 1-0 shutout over Albuquerque Monday afternoon, marked the second time in franchise history the Aces have thrown back-to-back shutouts.
