RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Volunteer assistant coach Casey Tate has been promoted to assistant coach, head coach Dr. Melissa Price announced today.
Tate completed his third year with the Nevada soccer team as a volunteer assistant coach last season. He received his degree from Ottawa University in History and holds a USSF A license. Tate played at the collegiate level at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Indiana Institute of Technology, and Arizona State University.
Tate came to Nevada from Seton Catholic Preparatory High School in Arizona where he was the girls' soccer coach and physical education teacher. During his tenure at Seton Catholic, they won two Arizona high school state titles in 2006 and 2007. He was named Arizona State Coach of the Year 2007 and 2008, along with Region Coach of the Year 2007, 2008, and 2010. Tate was the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Coach of the Year 2006 and 2007.
Tate and his wife, Kristina, have three daughters, Ava, Maleah, Makenzie, and a son on the way.
The Wolf Pack soccer team will kick-off its Spring schedule with a contest against the Nevada Men’s Club team on April 6 at Mackay Stadium. The event is free to the public and begins at 3:30 p.m.
