Reno, NV -- In the final tune-up before the regular-season opener, cold temperatures didn’t stop the Reno Aces’ bats from heating up in a 5-1 win over the University of Nevada.
The Aces finished with five runs on 13 hits for the game and eight different players recorded a hit. Designated hitter Mike Jacobs led the way, going 3-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs scored.
Reno supplied pitchers and catchers for both sides. Top prospects Archie Bradley and Bo Schultz got the starts and both went five innings. Bradley allowed one run on six hits and struck out four batters.
The Wolf Pack opened the scoring when Jordan Dunatov drove home Jake Caron with an RBI single in the top of the fourth.
The Aces answered when Jacobs drove home Aaron Cunningham with a double in the right-center gap. Reno went on to score four more unanswered runs en route to the victory. Ender Inciarte, Didi Gregorius, Alfredo Marte and Tyler Bortnick all finished with an RBI for the Aces.
The Aces kick off the 2014 regular season at home on April 3 by hosting the El Paso Chihuahuas, the newest Pacific Coast League franchise. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m. Discounted full and partial season tickets are on sale now. For more information, and to purchase an Aces ticket plan, call (775) 334-4700.
