RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Some local students had a chance to learn some physical skills for free in the fun and energetic way.

The Reno Bighorns are hosting a basketball and dance clinic Thursday for elementary students enrolled in a Washoe County School District 'Zoom' school and attending 'Zoom' summer activities. Zoom schools are those that have received special funding to provide accelerated learning and assistance for students learning the English language, many of whom also qualify for free and reduced lunch and have other academic difficulties.

"Our students in the Zoom schools don't have opportunities to go to summer camps, basketball camps and dance clinics... so we're able to provide this for them free of charge, which is amazing for our students," says Larissa Parker, Zoom School Facilitator.

Each student also gets two tickets to the Reno Bighorns' opening night for the upcoming season.

The goal of the camp is to teach kids basketball fundamentals and basic dance steps; and the school district is generously footing the bill.
