BOISE, ID. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Mikayla Linebarger, 13, of Sparks broke the American Age Group National Record at Boise State University on Dec. 1, Jump N Shout Athletics reports.
The previous record of 11’5¾” was held by Meagan Grey of Kyle, TX. Competing with Raise the Bar Pole Vault Club from Reno, Linebarger entered the open track meet with a previous best of 10’6” set last summer at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championship in Baltimore, MD where she placed second.
Linebarger is an 8th grader at Mendive Middle School in Sparks. The current world record for that age group is 12’11½”, which she hopes to beat.
Alexis Romero, a junior from Wooster placed 3rd at Jackson Open. Tasha Black, a senior from McQueen placed 5th, and Zack Supple, a senior from McQueen placed 2nd.
